Rather than building a form and stretching a cover over it, Soft Slump’s expressive form is discovered through the draping, collapsing and gathering of fabric

An abundant four-metres of fabric is pulled, scrunched, and cinched - its volume shaped by tension and gravity

Inspired in part by the drawstring closure of a duffel bag, the idea for Soft Slump developed from experiments where structure emerges from compression

Resting on blacksmith-worked steel legs or industrial metal wheels, Soft Slump evokes a work of sculpture uncrated from museum archives, being prepared for transport to an exhibition
